Giant Alien Eye heralds the return of Alton Towers’ most iconic ride

Smoking Gun-Alton Towers Nemesis Reborn

Smoking Gun has revealed details of its latest work for Alton Towers, as the attraction officially announces the launch date of Nemesis Reborn.

The Manchester agency has been involved in the storytelling for the rollercoaster ride, which includes drone footage and images of the floating 7-metre-wide, giant, blazing eye.

“This latest piece of storytelling is our biggest and bravest activation yet for Alton Towers Resort which is exactly what’s required for a launch of this magnitude,” said Rick Guttridge CEO, Smoking Gun.

“Reaction has been immense from mainstream media and superfans alike.”

Nemesis, which originally opened 30 years ago, is returning following a major transformation. Now known as Nemesis Reborn, its entire 250-tonne, 716-metre-long track has been replaced as well as a complete overhaul of the “beast” which gives the ride its name.

The eye is ringed by razor-sharp teeth and is brought to life through state-of-the-art audio visual technology.

“Throughout its first 30 years, Nemesis captured the imagination of millions of thrillseekers from around the globe,” added Bianca Sammut, Divisional Director at Alton Towers Resort.

“It’s been an astonishing privilege to bring this truly iconic ride into the 21st century.

“We’ve retained its essential DNA, while harnessing the most state-of-the-art technology and immersive storytelling techniques to ensure it will retain its status as a truly unrivalled rollercoaster experience for a whole new generation.

“And from March 16, those brave enough will be able to experience for themselves the truly awesome power of Nemesis Reborn.”
